What types of businesses do you work with?
I primarily work with established, sales-driven businesses where leadership, sales performance, communication or operational issues are holding the business back. This can include real estate, property, B2B, client facing sales, professional services, recruitment and similar businesses.
How do I know if my business is the right fit?
Usually, there is a fit if the business is established, has a team in place, is experiencing performance or management issues and the owner is open to an independent view. The first conversation is simply to understand the situation and whether I can genuinely add value.
Do you only focus on sales?
No. Sales is a major part of my background, but many sales problems are actually caused by leadership, management, communication, systems or operations. I look at the business more broadly to identify where the real issue sits.
What does the initial process look like?
It starts with a phone conversation, followed by a face-to-face meeting where appropriate. From there, I review the relevant parts of the business, speak with key people, identify the main issues and develop a practical game plan.
Will you tell us what we want to hear?
No. The value of bringing in an independent consultant is getting an objective view. If the issue sits with the sales team, management, operations or even the owner, I will address it directly and constructively.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. All discussions are treated confidentially. Where I speak directly with staff, individual conversations can remain confidential while broader themes and issues are reported back to the owner or leadership team.
Will you speak with our staff and managers?
Where it is useful, yes. I may speak with managers, salespeople, operations and other team members to understand how the business actually works. The level of access is always agreed with the owner first.
Who implements your recommendations?
Your business does. My role is to identify the gaps, recommend what should change, develop the game plan and provide accountability where required. I am there to advise and challenge, not to take over the day-to-day running of the business.
How are fees agreed?
Every business is different. After an initial conversation and understanding the scope of the work, I will clearly outline the proposed engagement, deliverables and fees before we proceed.
What happens after the Business Performance Review?
You will receive a clear view of the key issues, priorities and recommended actions. From there, you can implement the plan internally or, where it makes sense, we can discuss ongoing advisory support, management coaching or periodic performance reviews.
